Hi there!
I’m Valerie Lai, a Vancouver-ite working on achieving international world traveler status.
For the past 5 years, I’ve been traveling solo around the world. I’ve told myself, “there has to be more to life beyond spreadsheets and word documents” as I stared at my desktop photo of Machu Picchu and day dreamed about reaching the peak by sunrise.
So, I made it happen.
In 2014, I ran a half-marathon in Lima, Peru a few days before hiking around and seeing Machu Picchu*. A week later, I went to Brazil – ran along the beaches of Copacabana (whilst humming the song) and saw the famous Christo Redentor. You can make it happen too.
When I’m not working my desk job or travelling for fun, I’m running my own company called Lost Explorer Adventures which allows me to share my love for my hometown with like-minded adventurous people.
I hope my short stories and adventures makes you laugh and acts as an inspiration for your next adventure. If you have any questions on the places I’ve been, feel free to reach out to me.
You can follow my thoughts on Twitter: @valerieelai and my adventures on Instagram: @valeriemlai.
Happy travels!
* It is not wise of me to run 21km and follow it with grueling multi-day hike afterwards.
you’re awesome
love and miss you lots!
